Following this opera for several years, finally able to perform Fire Shut Up in My Bones at Lyric Opera Chicago. Terence Blanchard’s groundbreaking work, full of joy and pain, is upending traditional ideas about what belongs in opera: the musical elements, the dramatic structure, the stories being told and the kinds of people doing the telling.
Recently sang with the vocal ensemble Vox Noire on the recording of the original score by Terence Blanchard for The Woman King, film directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and starring Viola Davis.
Collaborating with Australian artist, Brook Andrew, on GABAN on display in the group exhibition “YOYI! Care, Repair, Heal” at Gropius Bau, Berlin.
After The Metropolitan Opera’s historic production of Gershwin’s Porgy & Bess, which won Best Opera Recording at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards, will be returning for the 2022/2023 season. Performing in the house’s new production of Lohengrin, company premiere of Terence Blanchard's, Champion, as well as my favorite Wagner opera, Der Fliegende Holländer.
Despite cancellations due to COVID-19 new and innovative virtual performances, Musical Crossroads, were welcomed by Senior Sunrise Living Community and happy to continue digital offerings as well as live performances.
